Just one month to go until #NoElevatorsDay! Once again, we encourage everyone to skip the elevator and #UseTheStairs. Not just for physical activity, but for mental wellbeing too.

Europe is facing a physical inactivity crisis. People simply MOVE too little!

A simple way to incorporate more movement into daily life is to ditch the elevator or escalator and take the stairs instead. Physical activity boosts not only physical health but also mental wellbeing.

There are countless ways to mark #NoElevatorsDay. From cancelling the elevators in your workplace and adding motivational stickers along staircases to organising stair-based activities. You can register your event on our website here.

And if your country boasts an iconic staircase, why not turn it into a race? That’s exactly what our National Coordinator in Bosnia and Herzegovina, KINEZIS, has done!

Racing the Great Mostar Stairs

For the past two years, KINEZIS has hosted the Velike Stepenice RUN on #NoElevatorsDay. A unique race on the iconic Great Mostar Stairs at Bijeli Brijeg.

This special event gets people moving in a fun and engaging way while reinforcing the benefits of taking the stairs over the elevator.

And after tackling this challenge, some participants might just rethink their next elevator journey!
